Linkin Park Continues “From Zero” World Tour in Newark

In celebration of the new album, From Zero, Linkin Park embarked on the From Zero World Tour in the fall of 2024. With such a great global response to the album and highly anticipated return of the band after a years long hiatus, the tour’s success continued into 2025 with several dates across multiple countries. Returning to the U.S. at the end of July, the band soon made a stop in at the Prudential Center in Newak, N.J.

While Linkin Park has released 20th anniversary editions of the albums Hybrid Theory and Meteora in recent years, along with Papercuts, a singles collection featuring some previously unreleased tracks, From Zero is the band’s first new album since 2017 and the first with frontwoman Emily Armstrong. With the album’s recent release of its deluxe edition in May, it consists of 14 songs fueled with energy and emotion, which the band carried with them to the August 3rd show in Newark.

The show kicked off strongly with the band’s classic hits  “Somewhere I Belong”, “Lying From You”, and “Crawling”. Fans of all ages, some newer and some longtime fans from the very beginning powerfully sang along to each song and cheered in excitement. This same energy and support from the crowd amped up as the band played the first single off the new album, “The Emptiness Machine”. Fans jumped and sang along as if this song were as old as the others played so far and they have heard it their entire lives. The arena was filled with outpouring love and support for the band’s new era, as it was clear new songs released with Emily are loved just as much as songs released with late singer Chester Bennington. Emily powerfully sings each song new and old, respectfully paying homage to Chester and carrying on the band’s legacy when singing their large catalog of hits. The night continued with the band and crowd fueling each other’s excitement and energy throughout a 27 song setlist of songs from multiple albums, including a three song encore ending just as strong as the start of the show consisting of “Papercut, “In the End”, and “Faint”. 

Linkin Park has always shown appreciation for their fans and strived to bring people together to build a community. They even established Linkin Park Underground (LPU), a fan club community for the band and fans to interact with each other. The band’s hiatus left fans uncertain about the band’s future, but remained patient. With the long awaited return announced by the band in September, 2024, fans heartwarmingly returned the love and continue to do so by showing support for the new music, attending live shows, and remaining part of LPU. Rock and metal bands have some of the greatest fan bases I’ve seen, but the Linkin Park community is surely one of a kind. 

After the N.J. show, it’s clear that even after a 25 year long career, Linkin Park’s fanbase is as strong as ever, along with the band’s chemistry. The band’s interactions with each other all night were nothing short of pure positivity and joy to be playing together in front of thousands of fans, even after dozens of shows on the tour’s run. It felt as though the night was the kickoff of the tour and it was one big celebration. Linkin Park’s return is strong and we can be sure to expect more from them. The band has no plans to slow down as the tour continues its run throughout North and South America in 2025 before heading back overseas for a run across Australia in 2026.
